Juba, South Sudan 14th Jan, 2026— Minister of Youth and Sports, Hon. Mary Nawi Martin, commended the South Sudan Football Federation for its dedication to developing football in our nation.
During a meeting, Hon. Mary received a detailed report from Mr. Francis Amin Michael, President of the South Sudan Football Federation, regarding the recent Memorandum of Understanding with the Qatar Football Association. This agreement is a significant step towards strengthening our sports relationships internationally.
The Minister emphasized that the MoU symbolizes a promising path for enhancing sports collaboration between South Sudan and other nations. She acknowledged the Federation’s commitment to improving football, upgrading facilities, and training administrative staff, and expressed gratitude to the President for his unwavering support of sports initiatives.
Mr. Francis Amin Michael also shared insights on the Federation’s activities and detailed the upcoming national team competitions. He highlighted the crucial match against Djibouti set for late March as part of the Africa Cup of Nations preliminary round, which will be hosted by Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania in 2027.
He reaffirmed the strong partnership between the Federation and the Ministry and his readiness to collaborate for future national team events. Together, we are paving the way for a brighter future in South Sudanese football.
