Speaking after the meeting, Kuol Manyang, Secretary for the South Sudan Women Football Development Initiative, emphasized the urgent need for a collective effort to uplift the women’s game.

We joined the Federation today to share ideas on how to develop women’s football because we have realized this sector needs a lot of support. Our goal is to create technical pathways so we can contribute effectively to the gameโ€™s development across the entire country, Manyang said.

Manyang also expressed his gratitude to the SSFF leadership for their receptive and collaborative approach. “We thank the Federation because they welcomed us in a very positive way, appreciated the initiative, and encouraged us to push forward so we can work together.”

The collaboration is set to bring immediate, tangible benefits to the sport, particularly through grassroots competitions and corporate backing.

Mama Helen Terso, the SSFF Women Development Officer, hailed the initiative, noting that the new partnership brings concrete plans and financial backing to the table.

โ€ข Targeted Competitions: Plans are underway to establish robust inter-school and inter-state tournaments to scout talent at an early age.

โ€ข Corporate Sponsorship: The initiative has already secured sponsors, which will directly alleviate the financial burdens of running extensive women’s football programs.

This initiative came out with very tangible points that I hope will help womenโ€™s football develop more and more. They have plans for inter-school and inter-state tournaments and have already secured sponsors. For us at the federation, we will greatly benefit from these sponsors as they assist us in expanding our ongoing efforts for women’s football, Mama Terso stated.

With both organizations aligning their visions, this partnership marks a significant milestone in ensuring that female footballers across South Sudan receive the technical training, competitive platforms, and financial support required to thrive.
